It may seem like a small gesture..
May be an overwhelming experience for students or an overburden task for a teacher...However, It works...😊
As a teacher, I get lot of thanks from students and parents, however when a teacher says ‘Thank You’ to pupils, it’s like writing a new script in their mind.
Teacher has an image.
When she has a complaint, she writes a note..
When she wants to pass any information to parents on student’s profile, she writes a note..
When she wants to write remarks about performance and progress, she writes a note..
When she wants to have resources from home, she writes a note.
When she wants to convey a school related message, she writes a note.
When she wants parents to try out the costume for a student, she writes a note.
When she wants to inform the incident happened in school, she writes a note.
Can you think of few more? Read the above reasons of writing a note one more time and you will realize how the negative feelings can creep in..
Now think about writing an appreciation note for students and parents for their join efforts. How worthy will they feel for the time spent on project? How encourage would they feel for coming assignments? How inspirational the student would be when s/he wants to self do the home work?
I use a hand written note when there is a short and precised message for few of the selected ones, for their special achievements and for going an extra mile for hard work. However, at times I use printed ‘Thank You’ note to appreciate the sincere pains when I need them in bulk.
What have I received in return for such a small gesture of gratitude?
· An enormous smile and a big hug from my students
· A special bond and confirmation from parents that they trust me
· A reputation among peers that I am a thoughtful individual and I do care for people
· I feel contented for myself
· It works like a magic wand to motivate the learners
So next time, when you feel like your class has done something amazing collectively, don’t delay to share the feeling of gratitude.
